U visa Approval after 6 years! – April 2021

In 2015, Powers Law Group was contacted by a local nonprofit to represent an immigrant who was the victim of a vicious domestic violence crime and had little resources. We took on the case pro bono and filed in October 2015. Almost six years later, we received the approval in March 2021. We are so happy our client and her family can have a secure future in the US and a pathway to citizenship in the near future. U visas are the visas for victims of certain crimes and are now taking many years for adjudication because there are only 10,000 visas available per year.
